The respray has been on the cards for some time now and after the FAAM weekend and having to fix a bit of damage it seemed the right time to work on the respray.
I originally painted Emy red becasue I new that people would see her and think she was the Red Droid from Star Wars, not knowing, or caring that she was an R6. Most people when they see her at events still say, 'look at that R2D2' so to be honest it does not matter what colour you paint an Astromech.
The choise of colours for the respray was either purple with a perl finish or metalic green. As you can see I chose the purple perl finish which over the red looks very nice indeed.I am going to keep the black and silver parts that are already painted intact but I may add a few new coloured panels. Already she looks much more elegant and expensive. I liked the red paint but it did have a very flat finish, this new perl finish is much better.
When it eventually stops raining I will be able to get the rest sprayed and I will post pics of the new Emy soon.
